FA Reduce Punishment Joey Barton
The English Football Association (FA) finally decided to reduce Joey Barton’s sentence from 18 months to 13 months.
The 34-year-old British midfielder was heavily penalized in April and had to pay a fine of £ 30,000 after proven 1,260 betting activities, including a match involving his team in the last ten years.
Former Newcastle United retainer had previously stated that the punishment given to him is too heavy, and the FA agreed with it. “The Appeal Commission concluded that the period of sanctions imposed by the Regulatory Commission is overwhelming.”
In spite of that, Barton released Burnley at the end of the 2016-2017 season yesterday and he practically could not be involved in football because the penalty will end on June 1, 2018.
Although his sentence was reduced, the FA still ordered Barton to pay a fine of 30 thousand pounds charged to him.
